Thursday 10:58 AM Never before has the price gap between natural gas and diesel been so large, making trucks powered by natural gas an alluring option for company fleets. Examples: Waste Management (WM) says 80% of its truck purchases in coming years will be fueled by nat gas, and Ryder (R) is expanding its program of renting out nat gas trucks and is introducing them in clusters it operates for big retailers.

- Thursday 10:27 AM The chatter over at automobile industry blog AutoDiscovery.com is that not only is General Motors (GM -0.8%) bringing back the Cadillac Escalade (contrary to some reports) - but that a new higher-priced model will include an upgrade of luxury options and a more powerful engine. [Consumer]

- Thursday 6:44 AM General Motors (GM) says it has no plans to move production from South Korea to Europe after speculation popped up that a move could be in the offing. - Tuesday 6:20 PM A Booz survey of ~200 auto industry executives finds bullish views abound, as 94% of automaker execs and 92% of auto supplier execs say the sector is somewhat or much better off Y/Y. Profitable growth is seen, with 52% projecting revenue will rise 11% or more, and strong majorities expect Detroit's big three to hold or gain market share next year. [Consumer]
- Monday 11:25 AM Amidst slow sales and mass overcapacity, no European automaker wants to be the first to shut a plant. Unlike in the U.S., EU automakers were under no pressure to restructure in exchange for bailout money. Four years later, all but the luxury brands are under pressure, with 30% rebates in Germany and Italy an all-time high. GM has lost money in Europe for 12 consecutive years. [Global & FX]
- Monday 7:06 AM Are competitors pouncing on General Motors' (GM) nervousness over the high costs of advertising? While last week Ford said it will remain a friend of Facebook after GM bailed out, now Hyundai (HYMLF.PK) announces that it will be an advertiser for the 2013 Super Bowl - a mega event that GM is curiously passing on.
